Mitt Romney's Pennsylvania finance c0-chair is convicted felon Bob Asher. The MontCo candy kingpin was convicted of political corruption and served a year in federal prison. While Chair of the PA GOP Asher arranged with then State Treasurer Budd Dwyer to give a no bid state contract to a vendor in return for a $300,000 payment to the Republican Party. Dwyer, despondent following his conviction, blew his brains out in a televised press conference.
Asher went on to become a member of the Republican National Committee and a prominent role in Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.
